Boys & Girls Club’s Grab and Go Meal Program During COVID-19

On Monday, March 30th, our Boys & Girls Club launched a meal distribution program at the Southside Boys & Girls Club. We will be partnering with the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program during the school closure to pack 3 days of super-size snacks and dinners for kids to pick up on Mondays, and 4 days of super-size snacks and dinners for pick up on Thursdays. A mobile distribution program will launch at the Roosevelt and Eastside Clubs on Monday, April 6. With the combination of meal programs provided by the schools and Boys & Girls Club, we hope to effectively curb hunger for our community’s youth during the pandemic.

Special thanks to Coborn’s, Inc. for providing 5,000 bags to support this effort. We’d also like to thank SCSU work study students from Atwood Memorial Center, who are filling 16 shifts a week for the packing & distribution of the meal program.
