Sylvia Krecklau Becomes Certified Trainer with Boys & Girls Club

We are pleased to announce that Roosevelt Boys & Girls Club’s Senior Site Manager Sylvia Krecklau has taken the necessary steps to become a certified tier 1 trainer with the National Trainers Initiative.

The National Trainers Initiative (NTI) provides opportunities for every Boys & Girls Club and BGCA-affiliated Military Youth Center Organization to have certified in-house trainer(s). Embedding certified trainers within organizations will allow them to conduct their own professional development training and collaborate with other local organizations to host learning events.

The Tier 1 curriculum includes pre-work, a multi-day live training, post-work, and a one-year commitment.

“The most challenging part of the process was facilitating and presenting a live, 15-minute training to my cohort while being evaluated by our trainers,” Sylvia said. “I was able to make connections with other tier 1 trainers in my breakout group who were from Colorado and Virginia, with years of experience ranging from 12 months to 17 years.”

“I am looking forward to fulfilling my Tier 1 trainer requirements by facilitating training in Youth Development Foundational Level Learning for our Boys & Girls Club staff,” said Sylvia. “I believe meaningful and effective training will prepare our staff and our members for success.  My long-term goal is to complete further NTI training certification to be able to train our organization (and maybe other organizations) on trauma-informed practices.”

Congratulations and thank you for your dedication to the programs and services the Club provides, Sylvia!
