When Kalvon moved here from Chicago in 2012, he struggled socially and academically. Then, he found the Boys & Girls Club. Here, he found strong mentors who showed him the value of education, leadership and sportspersonship. The staff even taught him how to play basketball. The Club helped him get caught up in school, and he’s been dedicated to his academic success ever since.
“When I was younger, I didn’t have anything,” said Kalvon. “I want to make sure my kids are okay. I want a better future.” After high school, Kalvon plans to join the Navy, learn a trade and return home to St. Cloud to support his community. He’s doing whatever it takes to create his great future.
