Matt has served as a member of the Boys & Girls Club’s Board of Directors for more than 17 years. When he was in college, he worked at Talahi KIDSTOP for 3 years. As a finance major, Matt wasn’t the typical youth development staff, but his time working with youth had a major effect on his life.
Matt was immediately struck by the positive impact a mentor could have on kids by consistently showing up and caring about them. “I became a mentor and role model to many youth while working at Talahi, and it truly changed me.” Matt decided to continue helping youth in the community upon entering his professional career. He joined the Resource Development Committee and then later joined the Board of Directors. Matt even served as Chair of the Board of Directors for 2 years, and he is currently the chair of the Resource Development Committee.
“I believe that every child deserves a chance at fulfilling their dream,” said Matt. “I don’t think there is a better organization in this community to allow them that opportunity than the Boys & Girls Club.”
Matt grew up in a small town in South Dakota and has always had a very strong sense of community because of that. He is constantly looking for ways to create, nurture and promote community within his staff team, clients, friends and family. The four most important people in his life are his wife Jessica and his three boys, Jackson, Derek and Ryan. They love spending time together at their cabin, traveling and experiencing the world, or simply playing a spirited game of whiffle ball in the backyard. In his spare time, Matt enjoys riding his bike, no matter the surface. Just being out in and nature pedaling away, he feels calm and in the moment.
Please join us in thanking Matt for his dedication and commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota!
