Boys & Girls Club announces Summer Food Service Program

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF CENTRAL MINNESOTA’S SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM

Students may need a break from the classroom for the summer, but they should not have to miss nutritious meals and snacks critical to their healthy development.

This is why the Eastside, Roosevelt, Southside Boys & Girls Clubs and Madison, Westwood, Kennedy, Clearview, Mississippi Heights, Pleasantview, Talahi KIDSTOP sites of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota are participating in the National Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) facilitated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Starting June 6th and ending August 25th at Madison KIDSTOP site, a breakfast will be served from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. and a snack will be served from 3:00 – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, to all children enrolled in the program.

Starting June 6th and ending August 25th at Westwood KIDSTOP site, a breakfast will be served from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. and a snack will be served from 3:00 – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, to all children enrolled in the program

Starting June 6th and ending August 25th at Kennedy KIDSTOP site, a breakfast will be served from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. and a snack will be served from 3:00 – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, to all children enrolled in the program.

Starting June 6th and ending August 25th at Talahi KIDSTOP site, a breakfast will be served from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. and a snack will be served from 3:15 – 3:45 p.m., Monday – Friday, to all children enrolled in the program.

Starting June 6th and ending August 25th at Mississippi Heights KIDSTOP site, a breakfast will be served from 8:45 – 9:45 a.m. and a snack will be served from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, to all children enrolled in the program.

Starting June 6th and ending August 25th at Pleasantview KIDSTOP site, a breakfast will be served from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. and a snack will be served from 3:00 – 3:45 p.m., Monday – Friday, to all children enrolled in the program.

Starting June 6th and ending August 25th at Clearview KIDSTOP site, a breakfast will be served from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. and a snack will be served from 3:00 – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, to all children enrolled in the program.

Starting June 6th and ending August 25th at the Eastside, Southside and Roosevelt Boys & Girls Clubs will be serving a snack from 1 – 2 p.m. and a supper will be served from 4 – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, to all children enrolled in the program.

“With the help of the SFSP, Clubs are able to set a good example of healthy eating habits for our members,” said Director of Clubs Christine Kustelski.

In addition to eating well and learning healthy habits, Clubs & KIDSTOP sites offer a variety of age-appropriate activities to keep children active during the summer months. Members can get involved in Summer Brain Gain, fine arts, cooking, sports clubs, and more.

The Boys & Girls Club also offers numerous field trip opportunities, including bowling, skating, the zoo and water park. The Clubs’ summer programming hours are Monday through Friday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The KIDSTOP sites are open from 6:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
