Walmart Giving Supports Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota recently received funding from Walmart Giving. The organization received $1,500 from Sam’s Club store #8183 to support the meal program. They also received $5,000 from Walmart store #1633 to support CareerSTART workforce development programs.

In 2021, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota served 83,895 meals through a combination of their Grab & Go meals and the hot meal program that re-launched in September. The Club is on track to serve more meals this year.

“There is nothing more basic or more important than feeding children,” said Senior Director of Communications Aimee Minnerath. She said the group is thankful to Walmart for helping to support basic needs.

“We feel it is our responsibility to fulfill our members’ basic needs for nutrition,” said Minnerath. “Once their basic needs are met, we can then help prepare youth for a success future with programs like CareerSTART.”

CareerSTART is designed to provide exploration, development and application of career paths for youth in grades K-12, to develop employability skills & apply core competencies, which will empower them to start their great future in the career of their choice. CareerSTART offers programs and activities under each of the six career cluster areas, including: culinary arts, digital arts & technology, robotics, Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities (CEO), construction trades, Junior Staff program, and a Certified Nursing Assistant program.

“By working together with local nonprofit organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota, we are able to make a significant impact in our local communities,” said T.J. Rick, local Sam’s Club #8183 store manager. “We are proud to support Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota.”
