Faizo S. and Evan D. receive Optimist Youth Award for service to Club

Boys & Girls Club staff were thrilled to recognize Evan D. and Faizo S. their service to our community at the 2022 St. Cloud Morning Optimist Youth Appreciation Breakfast on September 21, 2022.

Evan is a part of the Junior Staff Career Development volunteer program at Boys & Girls Club’s Pine Meadow and Riverview KIDSTOP in Sartell. Evan volunteered more than 200 hours this summer at KIDSTOP!

Evan had graduated from Boys & Girls Club’s KIDSTOP program in Sartell before becoming a volunteer. This gave him a good perspective of the program, and it enabled Evan to be successful in his role very quickly. Evan was extremely helpful in a variety of ways. He set up special events at the site, including Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop and Sand Art. He was very quick to lend a hand for any task set forth. Even served as a runner to send items out to staff operating programs throughout the building. He set up for snack and lunch and was a huge help to the cleaning team.

Evan is a busy teenager involved in numerous extra-curricular activities, but he still finds time to make a big difference to our programs and to all the youth involved.

Faizo has been a member of the Southside Boys & Girls Club for more than three years. She has become a well-known youth leader in the Club. There is not a day that Faizo is not on the front lines volunteering alongside the Boys & Girls Club staff team. She organizes events and assists with activities in all areas of the Club. Over the past four months, Faizo has contributed more than 150 volunteer service hours to the Boys & Girls Club. Faizo models excellent leadership, work ethic and a commitment to service to her community for her peers at the Club.

When Faizo is not volunteering in the Club, she enjoys playing pool and other social rec activities with her friends at the Club. She also spends a lot of time in the learning center getting her homework done. Faizo has participated in numerous SMART Moves programs, which help her build skills to make good choices, develop positive relationships and resist negative peer pressure.

Thank you, Faizo and Evan, for your dedication and commitment to serving the youth of our community!
