Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota receives grant from Central Minnesota Credit Union Foundation for COVID-19 relief programs

On July 27, 2020, representatives from Central Minnesota Credit Union Foundation presented Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota with a check for $5,000.00 to support the organization’s COVID-19 relief programs.

According to Boys & Girls Club’s Vice President of Resource Development Deb Nebosis, the funds will support Boys & Girls Club’s Emergency Services Childcare programming that front line workers received during the school closure, as well as the organization’s meal distribution program and virtual Club programming during COVID-19.

“We are so grateful for this generous gift from Central Minnesota Credit Union Foundation,” said Nebosis. “Our amazing Boys & Girls Club heroes are doing whatever it takes to serve youth during this crisis, and funding from the CMCU Foundation enables us to continue our mission to bring hope to this community.”

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota’s mission and commitment to serving local youth has not wavered and has proven critical to our communities in recent months. This donation follows the Foundation’s initiatives and we’re proud to support our local youth and families to ensure they have the necessary resources to thrive throughout the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Gary Meyer, Central Minnesota Credit Union Foundation Board Member.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota is doing whatever it takes to support youth and their families during COVID-19. We provided childcare programming for front line workers during the school closure and assisted with distance learning. We opened summer KIDSTOP and Club programs to pre-registered youth using safety requirements set by the MDH and CDC. We have a meal distribution program for families, providing 5,000 snacks and dinners weekly. We are connecting with youth we can’t see virtually, with Zoom meetings, check-in phone calls, and we’ve even launched a Virtual Club.
