Boys & Girls Club hosts Global Wonderland – Youth Arts Initiative Holiday Showcase December 18th

The board and staff of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota invite the community to attend the Youth Arts Initiative’s 2019 holiday showcase, “Global Wonderland” on December 18th at the Eastside Boys & Girls Club (320 Raymond Ave NE, St. Cloud). Doors open at 6 p.m. with family fun and activities, including a photo booth with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a taste of foods from around the world presented by the Club’s Junior Chefs culinary arts program, games and karaoke.

The showcase will start at 6:30 p.m. on stage with performances from the Eastside Edge Dance Company, featuring a dance they learned with Ballet Hispanico earlier this fall. The fashion design program will have a fashion show highlighting clothing from different countries and time periods. The digital arts program will show a couple of videos the youth produced. The visual arts program will exhibit all work produced throughout the fall, including work highlighting different cultures and heritage. Youth will delight the audience with song as well!

“Our artists have been very intentional in providing high quality programs incorporating youth voice, which teaches them about the world around us, using an arts lens,” said Aimee Minnerath, Youth Arts Initiative Director. “We have some amazing community partnerships with the CSB/SJU Fine Arts Series and the Paramount, so that we can expose our youth to culture and history in each of their respective art forms, and then take that learning back to develop original artwork. This showcase is our youth’s opportunity to share what they’ve learned in a fun way, and to get families together to celebrate the holidays at the same time.”

The holiday showcase is free and open to the public. This activity is made possible in part by a grant from the Central MN Arts Board with funds appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature from its general fund.
