Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist is responsible for the assisting in all duties and responsibilities of the marketing department, including the Summer Benefit, other special events, membership and staff recruitment, public relations, website & social media, and updating and designing marketing collateral. If you are a public relations, marketing and/or communications student, this is a great opportunity for you to gain real-world experience while you finish your degree!

*** This position starts at $10.04 per hour. Up to 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of marketing materials, press releases and other collateral regarding events
  • Assist in building the silent auction for the Summer Benefit by making requests and picking up items
  • Assist in relationship-building and scheduling with food vendors, entertainment, etc.
  • Assist in setting up the day of the Summer Benefit (August 6, 2020) and other important events
  • Photograph programming and develop program press releases to be used throughout the year
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials, press releases and other collateral
  • Assist in membership recruitment campaigns
  • Assist in volunteer recruitment campaigns
  • Work closely with the HR department to assist in staff recruitment campaigns
  • Manage social media content schedule and support social media campaigns with content, posts & blogs
  • Update and design marketing pieces
  • Photograph programming and develop program press releases to be used throughout the year

 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in public relations, marketing and graphic design
  • Knowledge of Adobe suite and other publishing programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to relate well with children in a Boys & Girls Club environment
  • Willingness to work as a team member
