Because every child deserves a great future.
The Great Futures Endowment Campaign is all about leaving a legacy to the Boys & Girls Club, so that the next generation of young people continues to have hope for their future. Your planned gift, with a 2:1 match by the Norman C. Skalicky Foundation, will ensure that the Boys & Girls Club will be there for kids 100 years from now, with caring adult staff as mentors providing opportunities and experiences to set youth on a path to achieve their dreams.
The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation has issued a $5 million gift to support Boys & Girls Club’s Great Futures Endowment Campaign with a 2:1 match. Boys & Girls Club must raise $2.5 million.
You can help secure our children’s great futures for generations to come with your legacy gift.

Because They are the Future
Ismail is the future.
When Ismail Ali started attending the Boys & Girls Club, he just went because it was a place where he could hang out with friends and play basketball. At the time, he had no idea where it would take him.
“My friends and I went to the Club because we all live in apartments,” said Ismail. “If it weren’t for the Club, we probably would have been doing negative things.”
After Ismail graduated, he got a job at the Southside Club as a youth development staff. “Christine saw something in me that I didn’t see myself,” said Ismail. He said that the Southside Unit Director, Christine Kustelski, was like family to Ismail. She encouraged him to go to St. Cloud Technical & Community College. Then, she even wrote a letter of recommendation for him to attend Saint John’s University.
Today, Ismail is a senior at Saint John’s University, and he plans to get his master’s degree in either education administration or public policy. Ismail wants to affect change and make a difference in the world, just as Christine is making a difference in his neighborhood at the Club.
Janeel is the future.
Janeel has been a member of the Roosevelt Club for 6 years. Janeel used to struggle in school a lot. At first, she argued with staff when they encouraged her to do homework with them. But over time, she realized what a difference it made. Now thanks the staff for giving her the support she needs, and that she’s getting all A’s her senior year of high school!
After high school, Janeel hopes to go into child development and one day open a daycare to serve children, as the Boys & Girls Club has served her.

Every child deserves to be loved, celebrated, guided, mentored, supported, and taught — to feel belonging, pride, self confidence, acceptance and hope for the future. Every child deserves that — but because of so many different challenges and circumstances, not every child gets it. That’s where the Boys & Girls Club steps in — to ensure that children and youth in our community who face challenges have a better chance at creating a successful future. These kids deserve it. These kids are our future. That’s why we support the Club.

We have been involved with the Boys & Girls Club of Central Minnesota for more than 30 years. We truly believe that the work they do saves kid’s lives. The Club would be a huge success if it changed ONE life – but in fact hundreds of kids are changed in a positive way every day.
It’s a place where kids can go after school and get help with their homework. It’s a place where kids can get a nutritious meal that they otherwise would not have. It’s a place where kids can be loved and respected. All these things helping young people to lead a more productive life.
When we support the Club, we are helping kids, AND we are helping the St. Cloud community. Along with many others, we look forward to continuing our support of our community’s youth. There is no better investment!

The opportunity to be involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota has been very special for our family. The Boys & Girls Club fills a critical need in our community in that they provide a safe place for kids to go every day after school. It is a place where kids can get a daily snack and a healthy meal. It is also a place where kids can get help with homework. Through the great work of the staff, the Clubs are a place where kids feel loved, accepted and encouraged to lead productive lives. Without financial commitments by member of our community, the reality is that many kids simply will go without the things in life that many of us take for granted. We know that by investing in the Boys & Girls Club, we are helping make a difference in the lives of many children in Central Minnesota.

It all starts with the kids. If we can help provide a positive environment for children, it will build their confidence and self-esteem and keep them on the right track to be successful throughout their lives. The Boys & Girls Club definitely provides that environment and has been a positive force in our community.

As long time (45 years and counting) supporters of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota, we are excited to be a part of the Great Futures endowment campaign. I remember the early days when the Boys Club was getting started . . . it was bubble gum, band aids and bailing wire to keep it going . . . but it would not fail because of the power of its purpose, which was to help kids succeed. We are proud of the accomplishments of the Club and appreciate being recognized with the Thomas A. Ritsche Lifetime Commitment to Caring Award in 2015. Great Futures will sustain the great work you do in helping kids!
Mark & Ann Thelen
It seems pretty obvious that a child who is given support, love and opportunity is going to turn out just fine. To me, that is the business of our local Boys & Girls Club. Young people are our future. Do right by them now and our future is assured. Don’t do right by them and we are in trouble.
Your investment in the Great Futures Endowment Campaign will enable the Boys & Girls Club to invest in our staff who are the difference makers in our community. It will ensure a livable wage for staff, professional development to prepare them to provide a quality Club experience for every child who walks through our doors, and up-to-date technology and equipment to deliver positive outcomes for youth.
