Sports & Fitness Manager


The Sports and Fitness Manager designs, implements, and supervises the sports and fitness programs for all sites including evening and weekend leagues and tournaments, cardio and strength training programs, nutrition and fitness programs as well as daily skill development activities for youth at all skill levels.


  1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of positive youth development:
  • Promote and stimulate program participation;
  • Use positive youth guidance techniques including but not limited to, positive discipline and redirection;
  • Provides guidance and role modeling to members;
  • Participates in programs interacting with youth
  1. Implement physical education programs teaching skills, strength training attitude/sportsmanship, nutrition, and general physical wellness
  2. Evaluate the programs utilizing the BGCA Impact Assessment
  3. Plan and oversee the administration of Sports, Fitness, and Recreations programs and activities that support positive youth development to meet the needs of gender and cultural diversity:
  • Assist with establishing program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission
  • Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards, policies and goals
  • Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of programs
  • Demonstrate leadership that models appropriate conduct, safety, and inspires the development of members
  • Organize and lead both internal and community-based league and tournaments
  • Collaborate with schools officials, community leaders, parents and members to maintain a variety of programs that are meeting the needs and interest of all
  1. Shares the responsibility of assuring the safety of Club members, volunteers and staff during all sports and recreation activities. Ensure that site staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program, meaning that program area is safe and equipment is maintained in good working condition. This may include overseeing medical conditions of specific members and dispensing of medication
  2. Participates in staff recruitment events and interviews candidates for hire
  3. Trains and orientates staff and volunteers. Responsible for interpreting the objective, standards and programs of the Boys & Girls Club to staff and volunteers
  4. Conduct annual reviews of designated sports, fitness and recreation staff
  5. Conduct a daily pre/post operation safety inspection of all program areas
  6. Orders supplies to stay within the approved budget
  7. Assures grant funded programs are running on a timely basis with timely and accurate reporting


  1. Participate in special programs and/or events
  2. Coordinate inter Club and KIDSTOP Sports and Fitness activities
  3. Assist in onboarding of staff assigned as Sports and Fitness Youth Development Staff
  4. Responsible for other duties as assigned

  4. Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
  5. Must have an acceptable driving record, be 21 years old and be authorized to drive a Club van. Must be able hook-up and pull enclosed cargo trailer or willing to learn


Education 4-year degree (Coaching, Health, Fitness, Sports etc.)

Experience 1-year related work experience


Maintains close daily contact with Club staff, Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information. Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents, and others to assist in resolving problems/issues.


Visual: Normal acuity is required daily for making a color distinction, depth of sight, preparing/analyzing figures, computer use, and written records 8+ hours

Communication: Able to express thoughts and ideas in an accurate and understandable manner through verbal and written format with internal and external contacts 8 hours per day

Movement: Ability to maneuver within worksite 6-8 hours per day

Lifting/Pulling/Pushing/Carrying:  Able to comfortably move and manipulate up to 50 lbs. of weight up to 4-6 hours per day
