Programs in this core area are for assisting you to become proficient in basic educational subjects, and help you set goals, explore careers, prepare for employment and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.
Project Learn
Project Learn is about strengthening the skills that you learn at school during the hours you spend at the Club. Through Project Learn, Club staff use all the areas and programs in the Club to create opportunities for fun learning activities, which include leisure reading, writing activities, discussions with knowledgeable adults, helping others, homework help and tutoring,and games. Join up with Project Learn and get rewarded for your progress in school. Project Learn stresses the fact that although it is your education; your teachers and parents also have a role in your success.
Goals for Graduation
You may know what you want, but how do you get there? Goals for Graduation, a Project Learn program, introduces academic goal-setting to Club members by showing you that what you do today actually can have a positive impact on your future. In a variety of one-on-one small-group and large-group sessions you can set achievable "Know I Can" goals, more challenging "Think I Can" goals and yearly "Believe I Can" goals. Members create an action plan with daily and weekly goals leading to short- and long-term academic gains.
The Ultimate Journey
Are you concerned about the environment? Or maybe just into learning more about it? This internationally recognized award-winning environmental education program leads Club members on a journey into the world of plants and animals. Through small-group participations in games, crafts and discovery-based activities, young people develop an awareness of the environment, get a better understanding of how human actions affect nature, and learn about conservation of our natural resources.
Career Launch
Career Launch helps Club members to learn where their strengths are, explore careers, make good educational decisions and prepare to join our nation’s ever-changing work force. Club staff work with you individually or in small groups to build their job-search skills and job readiness.
Job Ready
Job Ready prepares Club members with specific skills to secure employment and be successful in the world of work. Using the comprehensive program materials and assessment tools that Job Ready provides, Club staff can tailor the program to meet your individual needs. Teens learn how to identify job opportunities, write effective resumes, perform well in interviews, dress appropriately, develop good work habits and get along well with others in the workplace.
Junior Staff Career Development
Junior Staff Career Development is a comprehensive small-group program that assists Club members in exploring a career in youth of human services, particularly Boys & Girls Club work. Through hands-on experience with helping others in the Club and community, field trips to other service organizations and one-on-one guidance from Club staff, teens for future roles as human service professionals or volunteer leaders in their communities.
Money Matters
Money Matters is a simple program designed to teach you how to handle your funds. You'll learn how to manage a checking account, budget, save and invest. You can also learn about starting small businesses, and paying for college.
