Character and Leadership Development
Programs in this area are about empowering you to support and positively effect your community, feel good about yourself, and have satisfying relationships with those who surround you whether they are your friends, or just people you deal with on a regular basis. These programs also teach you how you can have an effect on people, change your situation for the better, and live in harmony and respect with different people and cultures.
Youth of the Year
This program is about celebrating service to Club, community and family; academic performance; moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. Clubs recognize members ages 14-18 who were Youths of the Month and select a Youth of the Year, who then gets to participate in a state competition. State winners participate in a regional competition, and five regional winners each receive a $5,000 scholarship and compete on the national level. The National Youth of the Year receives an additional $10,000 scholarship and is installed by the President of the United States. Wow.
TEENSupreme Keystone Clubs
This is one of the most popular clubs that The Boys & Girls Club offers. Keystone Clubs are about leadership and service, and are for youth ages 14-18. Keystoners elect officers and have great activities! Join the Keystone Club and learn about community, character and leadership development, education and career exploration, unity, free enterprise and social recreation.There are always tons of field trips to great places like Valley Fair, and opportunities to attend events like Wild and Timberwolves games. Torch Clubs
Torch Clubs are the same as Keystone Clubs, but are for the ages 11-13. A Torch Club is a powerful group where members learn to elect officers and work together to create activities in four areas: service to Club and community; education, health and fitness and social recreation. Torch Club members have a blast going on field trips together and helping each other be great.
T3: Teen Tech Teams
Do you like gaming? Web design? Computers? Teen Tech Teams are for you. These small-group clubs teach about technology, and all the cool careers that you can have in this area. Members ages 10 and up explore technology-related careers and issues, increase technology skills, and assist staff and other members with technology in the Club. Learn how to build a computer from the ground up, put in the hours, and take the computer home with you!
